CEC Chair: Preliminary election results expected within one to two hours after voting ends
Preliminary results of the upcoming elections are expected to be announced within one to two hours after the polls close, Central Election Commission (CEC) Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili said on the Georgian Public Broadcaster’s First Channel programme “Actual Topic with Maka Tsintsadze”.
According to Kalandarishvili, the timeline depends on established procedures.
“If the results are submitted in half an hour, forty minutes, or fifty minutes, we will not delay. The sooner we can satisfy the public’s interest, the better,” he stated.
He explained that the process involves several steps, including placing ballots from the portable box, drawing lots, closing the precinct, and transmitting the data. “These procedures naturally take some time,” Kalandarishvili added.
