CEC Chair says data verification in unified voter list possible until October 8

“The precinct election commissions have essentially been fully staffed,” CEC Chair Giorgi Kalandarishvili stated, responding to a viewer’s inquiry on the Georgian First Channel’s program “All Questions to the CEC.”

“The district commissions have already completed the selection process, and September 16th was the deadline for political parties to appoint their members,” Kalandarishvili elucidated.

“The training process has now commenced. Our training centre is implementing an intensive four-stage, and in some cases five-stage, learning cycle, focusing on specialized training. We have updated modules that emphasize practical, profile-specific education, and these individuals will soon be actively engaged in their duties.”

Addressing a viewer’s question about potential solutions for cases where a person is registered in one city but permanently resides in another and cannot travel to their place of registration on election day, the CEC Chairman explained that voters are included in the list based on their place of registration. If an individual changes their registration address and wishes to participate in the elections, they must complete the registration procedure at the appropriate location within the specified timeframe.

Regarding how citizens without a registered address should cast their votes, Kalandarishvili advised that such individuals should verify their presence in the unified voter list by entering their personal identification number and surname on the CEC website, application, or social media platforms.

“If a citizen cannot be found on the list, they can call the CEC hotline at 2 51 00 51, and we will assist them directly with the verification process,” Kalandarishvili elaborated.

“If they are not in the CEC database, they must contact the Public Service Development Agency. I want to remind our viewers and voters once again – let’s verify our and our family members’ data in the unified voter list. Any inaccuracies don’t necessarily indicate an error. There are legitimate cases, for instance, when a person has sold a property, and in the case of new ownership, they have an obligation to re-register and complete the appropriate registration for themselves and their family members.”

Furthermore, Giorgi Kalandarishvili emphasized that verification of data in the unified voter list is possible until October 8th, and he urged citizens to be proactive in this regard.
