Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC), met with the National Democratic Institute’s (NDI) long-term observation mission for the 2024 parliamentary elections, led by Natasha Rothchild.
The meeting focused on the CEC’s preparations for the October 26 elections, including the implementation of election technologies and training for election administrators.
Kalandarishvili highlighted the CEC’s efforts to adhere to international standards and the incorporation of NDI’s recommendations, such as increasing the number of polling stations using new technologies and conducting voter education campaigns. They also discussed the CEC’s strategies for combating disinformation.
The CEC expressed its commitment to transparency and cooperation with international observation missions to ensure the integrity of the elections.
