CEC Chair: Marking procedure extended to those using portable ballot boxes

Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chair of the Central Election Commission (CEC), provided insights into changes in the election process during the “All Questions to CEC” program on the GPB First Channel. He emphasized that the marking procedure will persist, with a significant addition for voters utilizing portable ballot boxes.

“At every stage of the election, the CEC will issue specific instructions to ensure the proper implementation of the process. Each machine used in the voting procedure will be supervised, including verification and vote-counting machines. These supervisors, typically members of the election commission, will provide guidance on how to correctly insert ballots into the vote-counting machine,” Kalandarishvili explained.

In response to a viewer’s inquiry about support for voters unfamiliar with the new system, Kalandarishvili confirmed that assistance will be readily available at polling stations.

He further noted that while the standard marking procedure remains intact, it has now been extended to include voters utilizing portable ballot boxes to eliminate any concerns regarding possible double voting.

“This serves as an additional safeguard to ensure the integrity of the election process,” he added.
