The Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Giorgi Kalandarishvili, met with representatives from the international organization TransparenciaElectoral and the Albanian Institute for Election Systems Development.
Kalandarishvili briefed the participants on the implementation of electronic electoral technologies, voter information projects, and significant innovations. He noted that two days before the elections, the election administration is utilizing all available resources to provide crucial information to parties involved in the electoral process.
“I held an interesting meeting with representatives of international organizations who have arrived in Georgia to observe our elections. They are particularly focused on the use of electoral technologies, both in terms of pre-election implementation and their application on election day. Based on the information provided, they will conduct their observation in the capital. Their interests include institutional challenges, election day risks and threats, and our institution’s preparedness in these areas, about which I provided detailed information,” Kalandarishvili stated.
During today’s meeting, alongside various important issues, Kalandarishvili discussed in detail the challenges facing the agency, the impact of disinformation in the electoral process, and the compliance audit of technological tools to be used in the October 26 elections.
According to him, the administration made a significant decision to conduct an audit, which, on one hand, ensures transparency and public access, addressing all questions and concerns, and on the other hand, meets international best practices and standards.
The meeting was held at the Central Election Commission on October 24.
