By 20:00, 1,438,116 voters had cast their ballots in Georgia’s local self-government elections, representing 40.93% of registered voters. The information was released at a briefing by Natia Ioseliani, spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC).

Ioseliani stated that election day was conducted “mostly peacefully and safely.”

“In some cases, incidents and technical glitches were reported, but the election administration responded promptly in line with the law. So far, the District Election Commissions have received 24 complaints, mainly concerning violations of rules for photo and video recording, polling station arrangements, and voter registration procedures outside polling stations,” she said.

Voting began at 08:00 and closed at 20:00 in 3,061 polling stations across the country. A total of 12 political parties were registered for the elections.

CEC Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili announced that preliminary results are expected to be released approximately two hours after the close of voting.
