Catholicos-Patriarch: National football team exemplifies diaspora solidarity; demonstrates potential of combined efforts

Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, on Thursday said, “Today, our country is on the world stage, and you, in your current place of presence, have made your contribution for its benefit.”

In his address, read by the Gori-Ateni Metropolitan Andria Gvazava, at the forum dedicated to Diaspora Day, Ilia II congratulated the country on the Georgian national team’s achievement in the UEFA EURO 2024.

“I extend a hearty greeting to everyone, especially representatives from our diaspora. Blessings and congratulations on yesterday’s triumph.

The Georgian national football team exemplifies diaspora solidarity and demonstrates the potential of our combined efforts.

I have repeatedly stated that any of you living abroad is the face of Georgia, and that is why you should strive to be a worthy representative of your homeland,” the letter says.
