The German Bundestag’s European Affairs Committee delegation is visiting Tbilisi.
Thomas Hacker, a member of the Committee, says that the meetings refer to EC’s 12 recommendations. The delegation members will meet with the Georgian Parliament Speaker, committee chairs, and parliament members.
“We want to see how the progress has been done here in Georgia regarding the 12 proposals. We want to help the country become a member of the European community,” Thomas Hacker stated.
According to him, the delegation members will also meet with the Minister of Justice to discuss the implemented reforms and Nika Gvaramia’s issue.
“As you know, I was not allowed to see Nika Gvaramia in prison. We will talk about this topic with the Justice Minister. The European Parliament and the German Bundestag see more political reasons for his imprisonment than other reasons. This is part of media freedom that hinders Georgia on its way to a pluralistic community, a pluralistic state. Media freedom is one of the main topics of 12 recommendations,” he added.
