Mariya Gabriel, Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated Georgia on EU candidate status and said it is a recognition of the country’s progress.
“Congratulations to Georgia and Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on the country being granted EU candidate status. It is a recognition of Georgia’s progress and a historic step towards a stronger European family,” she said.
On December 14, the European Council opened EU accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova and granted EU candidate status to Georgia.
