The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a statement regarding a collapse that occurred in one of the residential buildings in the area adjacent to Station Square in Tbilisi.

According to the ministry, debris clearance and active search and rescue operations are currently underway in the area.

“Upon receiving notification of the collapse that occurred in one of the residential buildings located in the area adjacent to Station Square in Tbilisi, the Ministry of Internal Affairs immediately mobilised firefighter-rescuers from the Emergency Management Service and police forces.

Upon arrival at the scene, firefighter-rescuers immediately evacuated citizens from the area surrounding the collapsed building.

Debris clearance and active search and rescue operations are currently underway in the area. Emergency medical personnel are present at the scene.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on citizens, as well as all media representatives present at the scene, to comply with the instructions of Ministry of Internal Affairs personnel and observe safety regulations,” the MIA statement noted.
