Law on broadcasting amendments to extend regulations to online media

The amendments to the Law on Broadcasting will be revised, extending the standards of conduct for broadcasters to online media as well.

Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee, discussed this during the Sectoral Economy and Economic Policy Committee session.

According to Gorduladze, the draft law defines what constitutes an Internet service. The definition states that an Internet service includes “the provision of mass information in the state language of Georgia by an Internet service provider through an Internet domain, Internet hosting, an application, or a third-party information-sharing platform, including social networks.”

Gorduladze also noted that the revised bill will be submitted for a second reading at the plenary session.
