British Embassy to be deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life in Batumi
British Embassy in Georgia echoed the tragedy following the collapse of a residential house in Batumi that claimed life of nine people.
“Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life following a collapse of a residential house in Batumi. Our thoughts and prayers are with families and close ones of those who died. We wish speedy recovery to the injured. We commend continued efforts of everyone involved at the site,” the Embassy said in a statement released on Facebook.
Part of a five-storey residential building on May 26 Street in Batumi collapsed on October 8. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained three individuals within the ongoing investigation in Batumi residential building collapsing incident.
The incident claimed lives of 9 people, among them 3 children. Georgian government declared October 11 as Day of Mourning.
