British Ambassador to Georgia Mark Clayton said he was saddened by the disrupted Tbilisi Pride Festival despite preventive measures and called on the government to bring to justice all those, who broke the law.
“Shocked and saddened to see that despite the planning and preventive measures, Tbilisi Pride festival was cancelled due to safety risks for participants.
I call on authorities to ensure that all who broke law and aggressively disrupted a peaceful gathering will be brought to justice,” he tweeted.
Police and anti-Pride Festival rally participants clashed at Lisi Wonderland, outskirts of Tbilisi, where the Pride Festival was due to be held. Pride Festival participants left the territory due to security risks. They evacuated by mini-buses saying the police failed to ensure their security.
