Bottom Dredging works launch at Anaklia Port

Bottom Dredging works have been launched at Anaklia Deep Sea Port. Tristao Da Cunha, a Hopper Dredger, entered the port.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Black Sea bottom in the aquatorium of Anaklia will be deepened to 17.5 meters, and a 1,380-meter-long breakwater will be constructed afterwards.

The works will be implemented by a globally renowned Belgian company, a member of the Jan De Nul N.V. Group with Georgian partners.

The Georgian government will construct Anaklia Deep Sea Port using the “Landlord” model. Under this framework, the state will remain the sole proprietor of the core marine and port infrastructure.

The ‘landlord’ model will enable the state to develop Anaklia Port in partnership with multiple nations and companies to create optimal conditions for attracting cargo to the port and, consequently, ensuring its maximum operational efficiency.

Alongside developing the port infrastructure, the state will guarantee the construction of road and rail links to Anaklia.
