Border Police detain 9 foreign nationals for unlawful crossing of state border in group

Officers of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 9 foreign nationals for an attempt to cross the state border unlawfully in a group.

Through operative measures, the investigation determined that the detained individuals attempted to cross the state border bypassing Sarphi border checkpoint to enter the territory of the Republic of Turkiye.

The investigation is in progress under Subparagraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 19-344 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years.
