Belgian Foreign Minister Aja Labibi on Thursday said her meetings with Georgian officials in Tbilisi “showed a strong and sincere desire for Georgia to become an EU member.”

Labibi said her visit aims to explore the ways to further assist the country on its path to joining the European Union.

We need to reinforce the bonds, as well as the proclaimed desire to join the EU. We need to hear this, and we will voice it when we return to Brussels.

We must consider the region’s geostrategic fragility, where borders have not been recognized for decades.

The European Union participates in ensuring the stability of the region, and Belgium is involved in this process,” she stated.
