Batumi residential building to be demolished

Batumi residential building, part of which collapsed on October 8, claiming the lives of nine people, should be fully dismantled, as experts published their conclusion.

According to Ednar Nataridize, Head of the Batumi City Hall’s Financial Service, half a million Georgian Lari will be allocated to carry out the demolition.

Fifty-five families evacuated from the building will receive monetary compensation and substitute accommodations.

Part of a five-storey residential building on May 26 Street in Batumi collapsed on October 8. The incident claimed the lives of 9 people, among them three children. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained three individuals within the ongoing investigation in Batumi residential building collapsing incident.
