Batumi named Europe’s leading four-season tourist destination

Batumi has been named the Leading European Four-Season Tourist Destination at the World Travel Awards, the Government of Ajara announced.

Chairman of the Ajara Government Sulkhan Tamazashvili, together with members of the delegation, attended the awards ceremony in Italy. Tamazashvili said that tourism development remains a priority for the government.

“This important recognition is the result of joint efforts by the central and local governments, the private sector and society. Tourism is not only a driver of economic growth, but also a key way to showcase our country’s cultural identity. Our history, traditions and values make Georgia unique. By preserving and promoting these values, we can further strengthen the region’s tourism potential, which will positively affect the well-being of families and the country as a whole,” Tamazashvili stated.

The Ajara delegation included members of the regional government, Head of the Tourism Department Tinatin Zoidze and Acting Mayor of Batumi Giorgi Tsintsadze.

Batumi competed with several major European destinations, including Budapest, Geneva, Munich, Oslo, Salzburg, Stockholm and Tallinn.

The World Travel Awards have been held annually since 1993 and feature hundreds of nominations and thousands of nominees across multiple categories by continent and country.
