Batumi City Assembly (Sakrebulo) approved the 2022 budget, with fourteen MPs having voted for it. That happened amid protest by opposition MPs ensuing an incident when United National Movement member Mirdat Kadamadze spilt unknown liquid at the session hall demanding the approval be removed from the agenda. Presented by Batumi Mayor Archil Chikovani, the budget amounts to GEL 254 million.
Simultaneously, the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party held a rally outside the city council, protesting against the approval of the 2022 budget by old convocation Sakrebulo members. Law enforcers removed several persons having attempted to enter the building from the territory.
Law enforcers forcedly expelled opposition representatives from the Bureau sitting at Batumi City Assembly on November 25. The opposition claimed the old convocation Sakrebulo had no right to approve the next budget. Sakrebulo Chair Suliko Tebidze argued that the old composition had the legal and lawful right to do so.
