Batumi building collapse: Court jails three for violating safety rules during reconstruction

Batumi City Court has sent three people behind bars for violating safety rules during construction and renovation works on May 26 Street in Batumi.

According to the MIA investigation, those individuals removed load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls during construction work that led to the collapse.

On Saturday, Interior Ministry apprehended three people, including a ground floor flat owner and two hired workers, over the incident.

A total of nine people, including three minors, have died following the collapse on October 8.

The government declared the day of mourning on October 11.
