Basketball Federation President: Squad in fighting spirit; we face historic match among EuroBasket's top eight teams #1TVSPORT
“The squad is in fighting spirit, we’re facing a historic match, for the first time we are among EuroBasket’s top eight teams,” Viktor Sanikidze, President of the Georgian Basketball Federation, told the Georgian Public Broadcaster’s (GPB) First Channel regarding the upcoming match against Finland at EuroBasket.
According to Sanikidze, the basketball squad is in a combative mood ahead of the quarter-final.
“The lads are in fighting spirit, we’re facing a historic match, for the first time we are among EuroBasket’s top eight teams. Should we win, we will advance to the semi-finals, and consequently, the significance of this encounter is enormous.
The team is feeling good. Yesterday they held their final preparation training, and they are in fighting spirit. We must battle until the final minute; they have demonstrated this to our supporters on numerous occasions.
Of course, the fans’ factor was very important during the previous match. Today, too, two charter flights have been completed to Riga. Their presence is additional motivation. Thanks to every fan who came. Thanks to the Prime Minister, who made it possible for them to get on these charter flights,” declared Sanikidze.
The match between Georgia and Finland’s national teams will begin at 6 p.m. Tbilisi time, with live coverage provided by GPB First Channel.
