Tbilisi City Court has discussed the issue of tightening the measure of restraint against Nika Melia, a member of the United National Movement.
The court partially satisfied the motion of the prosecutor’s office and increased the amount of bail imposed on Nika Melia as a measure of restraint to GEL 70,000 instead of GEL 100,000. The judge explained that the mentioned amount also includes the previous bail – 30 000 GEL.
As an additional measure, Melia was banned from leaving the state border of Georgia without prior notice and consent of the prosecution.
According to the judge, the additional obligations applied to Melia last year were cancelled. Nika Melia did not attand the trial.
Nika Melia, Gldani Majoritarian MP candidate of United National Movement, threw a bracelet attached by the National Probation Service at a rally in front of the parliament on November 1, where the opposition was protesting against the preliminary election results. Nika Melia stated that he was no longer going to wear the bracelet.
Melia was attached the bracelet on July 3 after Prosecutor’s Office presented him charged for organizing group violence in connection with June 20-21 developments in Tbilisi.
