Azerbaijan's President: Successful energy cooperation as natural gas exports via Georgia reach 11 countries

There is successful cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev noted during joint statements after his face-to-face meeting with Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to Ilham Aliyev, this serves the interests of both countries and the entire region.

“The projects that we are jointly implementing in oil and natural gas are of special importance. All of this ensures energy security for many countries. I would also like to note that through transit in Georgia, Azerbaijani natural gas is supplied to 11 countries, and exports are growing, its volume was 25 billion cubic meters last year, and 10% of exports is Georgia’s share. Based on the information I received about natural gas consumption in Georgia, 80% of this gas comes from Azerbaijan. This is truly a noteworthy fact and a special project.

The geography of our natural gas exports will gradually increase and expand when new deposits are developed in the coming years. New deposits will be discovered in Azerbaijan, and the volume of natural gas exports will gradually increase significantly.

At the same time, we are working together on a green energy project, and this also demonstrates that we are responsible governments, insofar as there is a necessity for this, a necessity for this type of energy in the market. Based on the information I received today, the green energy project is being implemented successfully, and like many other projects, this project will undoubtedly be successful. There is a great chance of this,” stated the President of Azerbaijan.
