Azerbaijan's President: Europe's energy security is inconceivable without Georgia
“Georgia and Azerbaijan are united by numerous projects that are essential not only for our countries but for the world at large. These projects encompass oil, gas, transport, and communications, forming a significant transport network that spans not only the South Caucasus but all of Eurasia,” Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev stated at a press conference alongside Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili.
Aliyev emphasized that any discussion of Europe’s energy security is impossible without recognizing Georgia’s pivotal role.
“Today, when we examine Europe’s energy security, we cannot overlook Georgia. Azerbaijan exports its oil and gas to 12 countries via Georgian territory. In terms of transport communications, we are developing vital infrastructure projects, including ports and roads, which are integral to our initiatives. Currently, the Middle Corridor in the South Caucasus traverses Azerbaijan and Georgia, and the volume of cargo moving through our countries is on the rise,” Ilham Aliyev highlighted.
