Azerbaijan MFA does not recognize so-called “parliamentary elections” in Abkhazia
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reaffirms its support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and does not recognize the so-called “parliamentary elections” held in the Abkhazia region of Georgia on March 12, 2022, as well as its results.
According to its readout, the Ministry considers it important to continue negotiations for peaceful settlement of Abkhazia issue in compliance with the norms and principles of international law.

The de facto authorities of occupied Abkhazia held so-called parliamentary elections in the region on Saturday. Georgian Foreign Ministry stressed this act “represents a violation of the norms principles of international law and is another futile attempt to legitimize the illegal occupation of two indivisible regions of Georgia.”
