Audit reveals operational faults in GWP systems

The owner of Georgian Water and Power (GWP), the Spanish company Aqualia, has completed an audit of the water supply infrastructure and operational systems.

The company representatives reported on the audit results and prospective plans during GPB First Channel’s Business Partner program.

According to them, the audit revealed significant operational deficiencies hindering the company’s operation, particularly in Tbilisi, Rustavi, and Mtskheta. The results indicated that 62% of water supply and drainage networks and 85% of large infrastructure facilities are old.

The company presented a 10-year development plan to address these issues, aiming to bring the service up to European standards by reducing accidents, improving operational efficiency, and digitizing consumer services.
