Audit Office: All individuals with information on Tbilisi School of Political Studies event will be questioned

The State Audit Office will take all necessary measures in a sequential and phased manner regarding the alleged receipt of a grant by the Tbilisi School of Political Studies without the approval of the Georgian Government, the agency said.

According to the State Audit Office, all individuals who may have information concerning the matter will be interviewed, and all relevant documentation will be examined.

“The State Audit Office, within the framework of its monitoring, will take all necessary measures sequentially and in stages. This includes interviewing all persons who may possess information related to the matter and examining all relevant documentation,” the agency said.

The matter concerns reports that an educational seminar was held under the organization of Armaz Akhvelidiani, head of the Tbilisi School of Political Studies, with funding from the Council of Europe. EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczynski also attended the event.

According to the reports, the organizers did not apply to the Georgian Government for approval of the event’s funding, which may constitute a violation of Georgia’s Law on Grants.
