Armenian Parliament Speaker prioritizes neighbourly relations with Georgia in foreign policy

The bilateral relationships and regional developments were among the variety of topics discussed by the speaker of the Georgian parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, and his Armenian counterpart, Alen Simonyan.

“One of our country’s foreign policy priorities is the development of excellent neighbourly relations with Georgia. We are really interested in establishing strategic ties with Georgia,” Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan noted following the meeting.

He believes that historical Armenian-Georgian ties are based on shared values.

“The meeting allowed us to continue the discussions we started in Yerevan in April. We discussed bilateral ties, infrastructure challenges, and our participation in international infrastructures. We also talked about the role of the Armenian community in the development of Armenian-Georgian relations,” Alen Simonyan went on.

He said the discussion focused on Georgia’s and Armenia’s roles in creating peace in the South Caucasus region.
