Archbishop Iakob - Vazha Gaprindashvili was freed by the whole nation
‘I am grateful to the Georgian government for the work to release Dr. Vazha Gaprindashvili. Special congratulations to the wrestlers,’ Archibishop Iakob said on Sunday.
During the sermon, Atchibishob assessed South Ossetia’s decision as a decent act.
‘Everybody was saying yestarday – I released the doctor. Vazha Gaprindahsvili was freed by the whole nation and no one self-blames it.
Special thanks to our wrestlers and Ossetian wrestlers, who know what I’m saying now, and Bibilov himself knows what I’m talking about. I can’t say everything in public.
First of all, his colleague supported Vazha Gaprindashvili. I also knew when they would release him.
We should note Ossetians decent behaviour. Russians did not interfere and the Ossetians released the doctor,’ Archbishop said.
Georgian Doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili was released by the occupational regime on December 28.
The occupied Tskhinvali court sentenced Vazha Gaprindashvili to one year and nine-months to prison during the trial on December 20.
Tbilisi-based doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili was illegally detained by Russian occupation forces near the occupation line with Akhalgori Municipality on November 9.
