Opponents of Namakhvani HPP construction will hold a protest rally today in the Georgian capital Tbilisi.
The protesters will gather at Republic Square from 2 pm, and they will address the rally participants from 3 pm.
Anti-Namakhvani protesters pledge to continue rallies until their demands are met. They vowed that the Georgian land would not be allowed to be alienated.
Earlier, the Georgian government announced that the construction of the Namakhvani hydropower plant (HPP) in the Imereti region would be suspended for 9 to 12 months until the environmental, geological, and seismological surveys are reviewed.
Nevertheless, local protesters plan to continue rallies against the HPP construction. They believe the HPP would be constructed anyway, which they oppose.
The protest has been underway in western Georgia for almost six months.
