Another October 4 convict Irakli Chkhvirkia plans to seek plea agreement
Another individual convicted in the October 4 case, Irakli Chkhvirkia, plans to appeal to the Prosecutor’s Office to seek a plea agreement, his lawyer Boris Chele Kurua said.
“It is my client’s wish to enter into a plea agreement. We contested the case in the first instance, but given the context we have been observing for a year now, we believe that the most constructive decision at this stage would be to reach a plea agreement with the prosecution.
We have not formally applied yet; there has only been verbal communication, but we plan to submit an application,” the lawyer said.
Irakli Chkhvirkia has been sentenced to five years in prison. He was charged under Article 19-222, Part 2(a) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which concerns an attempted seizure and blocking of strategic and specially important facilities committed by a group. He was also charged under Article 225, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
