Annual inflation rate in Georgia hits 2.8%
The Consumer Price Index (inflation) increased by 1.1% in January 2021 compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate reached 2.8 %, Georgian National Statistics Office (GeoStat) reported on Wednesday.
The price changes in food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.0%), transport (+1.4 %), housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (+1.9 %) mainly influenced the monthly inflation rate.
The annual inflation rate was affected by the price changes in food and non-alcoholic beverages (+6.4% ), health (+9.7% ), furnishings, household equipment and maintenance (+10.8%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+6.9%), and housing, water, electricity gas and other fuels (-20.5%).
