Ambassador Herczynski: Government responsible for respecting ex-president's rights

“It is the responsibility of the Georgian government to respect ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s rights,” said Pawel Herczynski, EU Ambassador to Georgia.

The EU Ambassador said he was grateful to the Georgian authorities for admitting Polish doctors to visit Mikheil Saakashvili at the Vivamed Clinic.

“I am really grateful to the Georgian authorities for the agreement given to the team of Polish doctors to visit Mikheil Saakashvili. I am glad that they came, saw him, and took samples. I understand that they also talked to doctors here in Georgia who were taking care of the former president. I hope that the findings of the Polish doctors will help Georgian doctors to apply a treatment that would result in the former president’s becoming healthy again.

This is what we have always repeated. It is the responsibility of the Georgian authorities to make sure that all the rights of former president Saakashvili, as a patient, as a defender in the court, are fully respected,” he said.
