US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan said it is simple to get a US visa, and the procedures to apply for a visa are clearly outlined on the US Embassy website.

“Well, it’s very simple to get a visa to go to the United States. You first have to apply for a visa to go to the United States. All of the steps are outlined very clearly on our website. And thousands and thousands of Georgians who have followed those steps have received visas if they’re eligible for them. So it’s not a complicated process. It can take time and you have to plan in advance, because we have a lot of people, who want to go to the United States. And so we have to schedule the appointments on a first come first serve basis.

According to Kelly Degnan, the US welcomes thousands of Georgians every year traveling for different purposes.

“We have a group of young performers, Georgian performers in the United States next week performing for Georgian Independence Day. We’ve got a troop of 30 ballerinas and performers from the Tbilisi State Ballet already touring throughout the United States. All throughout the year, we have cultural groups, we have students, we have visitors, tourists, and business people coming, and if people follow the steps and they’re eligible, they will get a visa, but first, you have to apply. You’re not gonna get a visa if you haven’t taken the time to apply for one,” she said.
