All operating churches to ring funeral bells before Catholicos-Patriarch’s burial

From the repose of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, in the Sioni Cathedral until his burial, funeral bells will be ringing in all operating churches in Georgia.

“The transfer of Ilia II’s remains from the Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral in a procession on foot to the Sioni Cathedral will begin at approximately 3 p.m. on March 22.

From the repose of His Holiness and Beatitude in the Sioni Cathedral, we request all churches in Mtskheta-Tbilisi and churches and monasteries operating in the dioceses to ring funeral bells before the burial,” the Georgian Patriarchate said in a statement.
