The Ambassador of Georgia to the UN Office in Geneva Alexandre Maisuradze has met with Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said Georgian Foreign Ministry.
According to the Ministry, the current coronavirus situation in Georgia and the social and economic measures implemented by the Georgian government were discussed at the meeting.
“WHO Director-General praised Georgia’s coronavirus situation and noted that the country is exemplary not only for the fight against COVID-19, but also for introducing a universal health care program, as well as combating hepatitis C and fulfilling obligations under the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control,” noted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
