Aleksandre Rakviashvili: IRI poll shows GD at 36%, opposition support half that level

“IRI has conducted a survey and there is a fight within the opposition. Apparently, Georgian Dream has 36%, while the opposition collectively has half as much. They say Lelo is not even measured there; Chergo [Tamar Chergoleishvili] looks crazy because instead of 20%, she is shown with zero, and so on,” Alexandre Rakviashvili, one of the leaders of the Free People’s Party (formerly Girchi), wrote on social media.

According to Rakviashvili, however, the main issue is not the gradual disappearance of Lelo or Nika Gvaramia, but the fact that many people who “made a mistake” in 2024 and followed the “4-5-9-25 campaign” are now realizing their mistake and want to make a different choice.

“So, after keeping voters living in a lie for all this time, shouting that the elections were rigged without proving anything, talking about the first and second stages of protests, saying ‘we will wear them down with fines,’ promising a ‘hot spring’ and one lie after another, without apologizing for anything, without remorse, without admitting anything — what was supposed to happen? Was the rating supposed to increase?

Not only that, the opposition media could not even distinguish who is who within the opposition, and now they are surprised that those whom they consider genuine opposition figures do not even appear in the ratings. So, if the media continues to bury its head in the sand and does not start distinguishing between black and white, many more unpleasant surprises await it,” Rakviashvili wrote.

He reiterated that the main issue was not the gradual disappearance of Lelo or Gvaramia, but voters reconsidering their previous political choices.

“Many people who made a mistake in 2024 and followed the 4-5-9-25 campaign are now realizing their mistake and want to make the right choice. So, if you are among such people, do not hesitate. Ask questions, write about what is stopping you from marking 36, and I will definitely answer, because there is no chance that there is a better choice in Georgia today than the Free People’s Party,” Rakviashvili wrote.

He also thanked the party’s supporters.

“And, of course, thank you to our loyal voters, who have been funding and supporting us for many years. Thanks to you, the Georgian people have had and will continue to have a chance to make the right choice,” he added.

Meanwhile, social media users have been circulating a slide purporting to show the results of an IRI survey.

According to the circulated slide, Georgian Dream has 36% in the party ratings, while the United National Movement has 5%. Iago Khvichia’s Girchi, the Labour Party, Giorgi Gakharia’s For Georgia and Akhali are each listed at 2%.

Ana Dolidze’s For the People, Zurab Japaridze’s Girchi – More Freedom, Strategy Aghmashenebeli and the People’s Party are each listed at 1%.

Lelo and the Federalists are not included in the ratings shown on the circulated slide.
