Agro-Insurance state program beneficiaries to get reimbursed for damage

Coordinator and Manager of the Agro-Insurance program of the Rural Development Agency Imeda Alkhazishvili, Kvareli Mayor Givi Zautashvili and TBC Insurance representatives visited farmer Davit Kemoklidze to inspect his hailstorm-damaged vineyard.

The hailstorm that hit Kvareli Municipality’s Shilda village on June 6 destroyed 75% of Kemoklidze’s grapes harvest. The farmer will receive GEL 42,900 from TBC Insurance.

Imeda Alkhazishvili recommended the farmers to join the state insurance program. The beneficiaries receive 70% co-financing on all vegetation and crops.

According to the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, since 2014, insurance companies have issued over 150,700 policies to 65,000 beneficiaries. Over 140 000 hectares are insured, and the amount of reimbursed damage exceeds GEL 67 million.
