Georgian Minister of Environment and Agriculture Davit Songulashvili participated in the United Nations conference, officially opened by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, held in Nice, France.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the event featured addresses from French President Emmanuel Macron, European Council President Antonio Costa, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The gathering was attended by leaders from over 100 countries, along with ministers of the environment and other high-ranking officials.

“Having more than 100 heads of state and senior officials at the UN High-Level Conference underscores the global importance of addressing marine pollution, ecosystem restoration, and biodiversity protection. Special emphasis was placed on the impact of climate change on the marine environment. It was highlighted that tackling these challenges requires a unified approach and collaborative efforts to develop mechanisms for the protection and sustainable use of marine resources,” said Songulashvili.
