Abkhazian Autonomous Republic Government Chair lays wreath at Heroes’ Memorial marking 34th anniversary of the fall of Gagra
Chairman of the Abkhazian Autonomous Republic Government Giorgi Jincharadze, alongside Abkhazian Supreme Council Chairman Jemal Gamakharia, paid tribute to the memory of those who perished during the tragic events in Gagra and laid a wreath at the Heroes’ Memorial.
“Thirty-Four years have passed since the fall of Gagra. This day is particularly painful for my family and me, as my father sacrificed his life for the country’s unity on this day.
The self-sacrifice and dedication to the future demonstrated by those who perished place a tremendous responsibility upon us, the responsibility to restore, through peaceful means, the trust that once bound us to our Abkhaz sisters and brothers.
I am convinced that time wil come when the self-sacrifice of those who perished, driven by faith in a peaceful future, will undoubtedly bear fruit,” he said.
Members of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, deputies of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia, and representatives of the State Service for Veteran Affairs and the Union of Abkhazian Warriors also visited the memorial.
