9 January has been declared a national day of mourning after the fire killed five children on 5 January in the Gali District in the occupied breakaway region of Abkhazia, the Government of Georgia announced on Wednesday.
“The national flags will be flown at half-mast on the entire territory of Georgia.
The government of Georgia extends heartfelt condolences to the affected families, communities and the people of Georgia,” reads the statement.
The fire victims will be buried on 9 January.
