In the Guria region, the firefighters and emergency responders from the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continue to operate in emergency mode in the disaster-stricken area.
According to Temur Mghebrishvili, the head of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, rescue efforts have been ongoing continuously, including throughout the night. At this stage, ongoing rescue measures include the transportation of citizens to safety.
“A total of 62 citizens have been transported to safe areas by rescuers using various means, including boats, walking, and vehicles. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has mobilized its units, including heavy equipment and firefighting teams, to assist in the disaster zone. If necessary, helicopters will be deployed to aid in the response efforts,” Mghebrishvili said.
