16 convicts enroll in higher education

The Special Penitentiary Service has reported that 16 convicted persons have become students this year as a result of passing national exams.

The penitentiary service launched the Digital University platform last year, allowing inmates to access higher academic education remotely. They can attend lectures online and have interactive communication with their professors.

“The availability of education is seen as a significant factor in the rehabilitation, resocialization, and full reintegration of convicts into society,” the Special Penitentiary Service states.
