11 protesters accused in group violence case jailed for two years

Tbilisi City Court has sentenced 11 individuals arrested during the ongoing protests near the Parliament of Georgia to two years in prison.

The convicted protesters are Andro Chichinadze, Onise Tskhadadze, Jano Archaia, Ruslan Sivakov, Luka Jabua, Guram Mirtskhulav, Valeri Tetrashvili, Giorgi Terishvili, Irakli Kerashvili, Revaz Kinadze, and Sergey Kukharchuk.

Judge Nino Galustashvili delivered the verdict, reclassifying the charges initially filed under Part 2 of Article 225 of the Criminal Code, which carries a sentence of 4 to 6 years for participation in organized group violence. Instead, the case was classified under Article 226, which concerns active participation in group actions that violate public order, resulting in the two-year prison sentences.
