US Ambassador to Georgia: If negotiations continue, parties to find way out
“I am confident, if we continue this process, the parties will find a way out,” said Kelly Degnan, the US Ambassador to Georgia, commenting on the fifth round of talks between the ruling party and the opposition.
According to her, the dialogue also allows the party leaders to discuss issues they would cooperate with after entering the parliament.
The Ambassador noted all participants in the negotiations have a sense of responsibility to find a solution.
“It is important that the parties talk. Dialogue is important not only to find a solution. Party leaders are under intense pressure both from the media and their supporters and sometimes from themselves. Dialogue is an important way to find a solution that would serve the interests of Georgia. At the same time, it will be an opportunity for party leaders to discuss other issues beyond dialogue. It refers to the reform of other areas, which is also important for Georgia’s development and economic issues. So this is a productive project, slow, targeted, and cautious. We are not in a hurry. Everyone has a feeling that it is necessary to do so. Everyone also has a sense of responsibility to find a solution. I am confident that if we continue this process, the parties will find a way out,” Kelly Degnan told TV Company Formula.
