Production, import and sale of any plastic bags banned starting from today

Production, import and sale of any plastic bags are banned starting from April 1, 2019.

Violation of regulation rules will result in penalty of 500 GEL and confiscation of the relevant products. In case of repeat, the amount of sanctions will be doubled.

Bags manufacturers will be monitored by the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. The import will be supervised by the Customs Service of the Ministry of Finance. The sellers will be inspected by local self-government bodies.
