Georgia not to engage in military conflict, GD Chair says

Ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze stated that the United National Movement (UNM), which he recently labelled a “war party”, aims to drag the country into military conflict and open “an additional front” in Georgia.

According to Kobakhidze, the Georgian government will resist all provocations, aimed to escalate a new military conflict with “Abkhazian and Ossetian brothers and sisters.” GD Chair reconfirmed that the Georgian government is committed to the peaceful de-occupation policy.

“If a window of possibility opens in the current complex situation, this would be offering help to people residing across the occupied territories to cope with social problems. Once again, the Georgian government will act in line with state interests, respond to the “war party’s” provocations adequately, and avert Georgia from engaging in the military conflict. That is our responsibility before our country and our population,” Irakli Kobakhidze declared.

Aleksei Danilov, Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, said on March 26 that Transdniestria and Georgia, being engaged in the return of their territories, would have helped Ukraine a lot. “The opening of additional fronts in the sphere of interests of the Russian Federation in the territories of other countries would greatly help Ukraine to fight the Russian attack,” he said.
