“There is no justification for calls for Georgia to start a war now,” Mikheil Sarjveladze, Chairman of the parliamentary Human Rights Committee, echoed the statement made by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov.
“The real cause of dissatisfaction was not sanctions and statements, but, it seems, the motivation was related to the fact that, perhaps, Georgia would somehow get involved in a military adventure and provide some assistance to Ukraine. I think this will not provide any assistance to Ukraine. Importantly, there is no justification or reason for calling on Georgia to start a war now. It is not in the interests of Georgia at all,” Sarjveladze said.
“No matter who calls us, including the Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine, the Georgian Government is not going to deviate from its stated peace policy,” Irakli Beraia, Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee, wrote on Facebook in response to Oleksiy Danilov’s statement.
Secretary of National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov said that “if Transnistria and Georgia engage in returning their territories, it will definitely help Ukraine”.
