Federica Mogherini – Support of Georgia’s state sovereignty is not a mere statement, it is the ground of our everyday work at place
Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission talked about Eastern Partnership at a plenary session of the European Parliament.
“Conflicts have not disappeared on our continent. The situation with respect to security in Georgia has turned to the worse at the administrative border line with South Ossetia for the last months. That is why we are increasing the representation of our mission at the site.
Support to Georgia’s territorial integrity and state sovereignty is not a mere statement or declaration of principles. This is the ground of our everyday work at the place. Georgia is a close and reliable partner in the neighborhood.
Therefore, we do not close our eyes at seeing the risks in the same way when we see the risk of reforms in the sphere of supremacy of law going backward in Georgia,” Mogherini said.
Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Borel is to replace Federica Mogherini on the post starting December 1, 2019.
