Young man charged for wounding police officer and 2 security guards released on bail
The decision made by Tbilisi City Court that generated many questions in the society – Tamaz Kvlividze, 27-year-old man, who is charged for having wounded one police officer and 2 security guards of Basiani Night Club, has been released on bail.
Tamar Chugoshvili, Vice Speaker of the parliament described the decision as the ‘case, which inflicts serious harm to the reputation of Georgian judiciary system.’
The incident took place on January 13. The charged person was presented indictment under three articles. Prosecutor’s Office will appeal against the decision in Appeals Court.
Natia Mezvrishvili, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs briefed regarding the incident at club Basiani earlier this afternoon.
As Mezvrishvili pointed out, Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) will have relevant reaction to all the cases of violence. She also pointed out that the Ministry will not let impunity for the attack on policemen and the dignity of policeman will be protected without admitting any compromises.
“We state once again that we will have relevant reactions to all the facts of violence committed by anyone. Everyone is equal before the law. Ministry of Internal Affairs will not let impunity for the attack on policemen and the dignity of policeman will be protected without admitting any compromises,” Mezvrishvili claimed.
